Calalenta is best known for its delicious rosé! Now this winery also has a white wine! Quite different, but certainly worth a try. The Calalenta Pecorino Terre di Chieti is a relative of the Trebbiano Abruzzese grape. It possesses undeniable quality and is capable of surprising even when drunk after a few years of aging. The Calalenta Pecorino Terre di Chieti has aromas of fresh pear, peaches, and apricot with a mineral undertone. In the glass, the wine has a light yellow color with bright green reflections. A lovely ripe fruity scent with complex aromas. Alpine-like freshness accompanies the soft texture. A fine, long finish. Delicious with a linguine frutti di mare tomato sauce. Also suitable with ham and melon, and soft cheeses. Also fine to drink on its own. Serve at 10-12 degrees.
Calalenta originated on the hills of the Majella massif, a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea. The terroir is perfect for viticulture; a true microclimate prevails, with a constant summer sea breeze and fresh winds coming from the mountain peaks on a limestone and clayey soil. Pecorino is a relatively rare grape variety, with only 300 hectares planted in Abruzzo and Le Marche. The vines here are planted using the Pergola system for optimal sanitary conditions.
The Fantini Group originated in the small town of Ortona, Abruzzo, in the heart of the Mediterranean. Founded in 1994 by three partners, Filippo, Valentino, and Camillo, also known as “the three dreamers” because they were able to make dreams that seemed impossible come true, to create a reality that was the flagship of Southern Italy without having much money or vineyards, but with a highly innovative business model.
The largest “Boutique Winery” in Italy is located here. This implies meticulous attention to every detail, starting with the vineyards. To begin with, the grapes are carefully selected and the processing carried out by a team of 21 young winemakers with extensive international experience, enabling us to produce wines of great value, appreciated all over the world.
Thanks to its detailed research into wine production, the Fantini Farnese group has been awarded the title of best wine producer in Italy for three years in a row – 2016, 2017, and 2019. That is a phenomenal advancement. This group produces various wine labels such as Vini Fantini, Tenute Rossetti, Vesevo, Vigniti Del Vulture, Vigniti Del Salento, Vigneti Zabu, Cantina Sava, Luccarelli, Gran Sasso, Cantine Cellaro, Caldora, and Terre Natuzzi.
