This wine scored one in a blind tasting by the three Dutch Masters of Wine 9-!

Ripe, dark fruit of plums and blackberries, but the spiciness is what makes this wine special! A typical Southern French herb mix of rosemary, thyme, and bay leaf. And the full, soft finish is the perfect finale! Château Paul Mas Coteaux du Languedoc Clos des Mures is a delicious, full-bodied, complex red wine from the south of France, the Coteaux du Languedoc. The wine is produced by the European Winemaker of the Year: Paul Mas. A blend of Syrah (85%), Grenache (10%), and Mourvedre (5%) grapes with a fair amount of oak aging. A beautiful, full-bodied wine with plenty of fruit and spiciness, well-balanced, and velvety tannins. Delicious!

Tasting note Château Paul Mas Clos des Mures

The wine has a complex nose full of cherries and forest fruit. Sunny, warm, and full-bodied! The taste is pleasant and elegant with moderate tannins and good balance. Strong fruity character with vanilla and toast in the long finish. We recommend drinking this wine with roasted meat, lamb, chicken, and soft cheeses. However, it would certainly not look out of place alongside a hearty roasted vegetable dish either! We thought it was fantastic, and in a blind tasting by the three Dutch Masters of Wine, this wine scored a 9-!

Harvested by hand for the best quality

The grapes were harvested by hand. Fermentation took 3 days. Separate vinification for each grape variety in temperature-controlled stainless steel and cement tanks. 40% of the blend underwent fermentation in oak barrels. The remaining 60% was aged in oak barrels after fermentation. Following this, the wine ages for another 9 months in French and American oak.
For this amazing wine used Paul Mas old vines. The Syrah vines are between 24 and 44 years old, and the Grenache vines are 45 years old. These are planted on a soil of clay, gravel, and slate containing many fossils. The vineyards are situated on a plateau and therefore receive abundant sunlight.

The winemaker of Chateau Paul Mas, Mister Languedoc

Jean-Claude Mas, also known as ‘Mister Languedoc’, strives to produce wines that strike a balance between elegance and accessibility. He aptly describes his wines as ‘Le Luxe Rural’ – the luxury of the countryside. This is achieved through a sustainable approach to viticulture, combining modern techniques with traditional methods. The vineyards benefit from the sun, the cooling winds of the Mistral and Tramontane, and the unique soil composition of clay and limestone, resulting in wines with a distinct character and finesse.

Domaines Paul Mas offers a wide portfolio of wines. Every glass radiates the passion and dedication with which these wines are made, and invites you on a journey of discovery through the flavors and aromas of the Languedoc. Whether you are a seasoned wine connoisseur or an enthusiastic beginner, a bottle from Domaines Paul Mas always promises a special experience.
