Taste this fresh, full-bodied Descalzos Viejos Chardonnay 2019, and you will immediately want to visit the bodega to see where this incredibly good wine is made. The Descalzos Viejos winery is a must-visit if you are in Malaga-Ronda! And then you can also immediately taste the amazing wines… Because Descalzos Viejos Chardonnay is aged partly sur lies with bâtonnage in wooden barrels, partly in stainless steel tanks, and blended at bottling. As a result, it is pleasantly spicy, floral, and has notes of toast, an interesting minerality and beautiful acidity, a delightful freshness, and very good aging potential; we recently tasted the Chardonnay 2010 at the bodega, and that was still a delicious wine. It is therefore also perfectly suitable for aging in the cellar for several years. In addition to this Chardonnay, Descalzos Viejos also produces red wines, primarily from Garnacha, Petit Verdot, and Syrah.

Finca Descalzos Viejos has good vineyards, works 100% organically, and is an excellent winemaker with a clear vision for wine. They only make wines that they themselves enjoy! Fortunately, many other wine lovers share this vision, and especially with the Chardonnay, it is quite a task every year for the bodega owners to allocate their share to all interested buyers; after all, there isn't much white wine in this region, and what there is is very good, so… it sells out quickly! All we can say is act fast. Delicious with all kinds of fish fried in butter, such as turbot, plaice, and pan-fried tuna. A Vitello Tonnato is also not to be sniffed at with this.
