We are waiting for the 2026 Novello. We can deliver it starting November 6. The presale begins at the end of October.
This Fantini Novello literally bursts out of your glass with its fruity character. You immediately taste cherries, raspberries, and a hint of spiciness that come together perfectly. Additionally, you discover delicate notes of rose that further refine the nose. The taste is delightfully fresh and well-balanced, while soft tannins ensure a smooth mouthfeel.
Novello is a tradition in Italy in which grapes are processed quickly after harvest through a special process.
The result? A young wine, bursting with fruit, that is on the table within just a few weeks of the harvest. This Novello is the Italian equivalent of Beaujolais Primeur. Here is an overview:
This wine pairs excellently with various dishes and brings out the best when combined with:
Serve this Novello at a temperature of 14 to 15°C for the best taste experience.
Novello is created via the method ‘Macération carbonique’, a special winemaking process that gives this wine its character. The grape bunches for the Fantini Novello are crushed under their own weight in a sealed tank. Carbon dioxide is formed during this process, but because the must is in a closed tank, it does not come into contact with oxygen. This oxygen would actually be required to start proper fermentation.
In this vinification method, extra carbon dioxide is often injected into the closed tank. The process that follows is called carbon dioxide maceration and takes a total of about 10 days. The carbon dioxide penetrates the skins of the Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, thereby extracting color and aromas from the skins. This is followed by a short fermentation of 4 days.
The result is a deep purple, very fruity and fragrant wine. After this process, the Fantini Novello is bottled immediately and is ready to be drunk young. Essentially, the grapes go straight from vineyard to dinner table.
Fantini is a young Italian company that has quickly made a name for itself in the wine world. They always strive for the highest quality and offer wines in various price ranges under different labels. In a short time, the winery grew into one of the leading export companies in Southern Italy, particularly in the Abruzzo region.
Their success stems from a combination of modern techniques and respect for tradition. With wines such as the Novello, they dare to experiment with unique production processes, while still holding fast to what makes Italian wine so special: authenticity and character. This balance makes their wines accessible and versatile.
Both wines use the carbonic maceration method and are intended to be drunk young. The difference lies mainly in the grapes and region: Novello comes from Italy (often Montepulciano and Sangiovese), while Beaujolais Primeur comes from France (Gamay grape).
This wine is specifically made to be drunk young. Preferably drink it within a year of purchase, as the fruitiness and freshness are at their best then.
Novello is made anew every year from freshly harvested grapes. The wine usually comes onto the market in November, immediately after the autumn harvest. It is about freshness, not aging.
Would you like to experience for yourself the taste of this young, fruity red wine that goes straight from vineyard to dinner table? Then add the Fantini Novello to your shopping cart immediately and enjoy a wine bursting with cherries, raspberries, and delicate rose notes. Perfect for a cozy get-together with charcuterie and cheese, or simply to discover what the Italian version of Beaujolais Primeur has to offer!
