Cantodoro by Feudo Arancio – There is Sicilian music in this!

Back by popular demand! This delicious Sicilian wine! Aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, and light spices form the first impression of Feudo Arancio Cantodoro. The wine tastes full-bodied, warm, and smooth, with a distinct structure. It comes from Sambuca di Sicilia and is made from Nero d’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon. This combination produces a robust yet accessible red wine that is ideal for lovers of characterful blends.

The main characteristics of Feudo Arancio Cantodoro:

    • Ripe cherries, blackberries and subtle herbs
    • Blend of Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon
    • Full, structured and smooth
    • Delicious with dishes such as pasta with ragù or grilled meat

Tasting notes and food pairing suggestions

Cantodoro has a deep ruby red color. On the nose, you immediately discover dark fruit, spices, and a light hint of cocoa. The initial taste is round, followed by soft tannins and a balanced freshness. The Nero d’Avola provides warmth and fruit, while the Cabernet Sauvignon ensures structure and depth. As a result, the wine holds its own for a long time without becoming heavy.

Cantodoro pairs well with cozy dinners, but also with a multi-course meal. The wine combines pleasantly with rich flavors and savory dishes. This makes it suitable for evenings with friends, barbecue dishes, or a hearty pasta dish.

    Food and wine pairings:

    • Pasta with ragù or mushrooms
    • Grilled beef or lamb chops
    • Stews with Mediterranean herbs
    • Semi-hard cheeses

    Origin, grapes and vinification

Feudo Arancio is located in western Sicily, where the climate is warm and the sun shines for hours. The vineyards are situated close to the coast, allowing the grapes to benefit from cool breezes. This helps maintain balance, even in warm years. The soils consist of limestone and clay, which is favorable for both grape varieties. Nero d’Avola has felt at home here for centuries, while Cabernet Sauvignon responds excellently to the sunny conditions.

The grapes are harvested and vinified separately. Subsequently, a portion of the wine ages in oak to develop more structure. The result is a blend in which fruit, spiciness, and a light touch of oak complement each other. Furthermore, Feudo Arancio operates sustainably, with a focus on water management and biodiversity in the vineyard. This preserves the vitality of the soil and allows the grapes to ripen stably.

    Mezzocorona Winery

The name Feudo Arancio refers to the nearby Lago Arancio, an impressive reservoir in southwestern Sicily that plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem and agriculture. This nature reserve, surrounded by hills and sun-drenched vineyards, forms the heart of the terroir from which Feudo Arancio derives its characterful wines.

In 2001, the estate was acquired by the renowned wine cooperative Mezzacorona, a leading player in the Italian wine world. At the time of the acquisition, the estate was in a dilapidated state, but Mezzacorona saw the enormous potential of the location, soils, and climate precisely here. With a long-term vision, a large-scale renovation and investment program was launched.

The existing vineyards were carefully restored and replanted, with a strong focus on sustainable viticulture and respect for the natural landscape. In addition, the old wine cellar was completely replaced by a modern, technologically advanced winery, designed to vinify grapes as purely and controllably as possible. An innovative irrigation system was also installed, essential in the warm and dry Sicilian climate, where efficient water use and quality are central.

Today, Feudo Arancio symbolizes modern Sicilian winemaking, in which traditional grape varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Grillo, and Inzolia are combined with international varieties like Syrah and Chardonnay. Thanks to the expertise of Mezzacorona and the unique terroir around Lago Arancio, the wines succeed in perfectly balancing intense fruit, Mediterranean warmth, and fresh elegance.
