The Geografico Bosco del Grillo Governo is therefore made according to the traditional Governo Method, in which a second fermentation is initiated by adding dried grapes, primarily from Sangiovese in the blend.
So, a sort of Appassimento, but executed in the Tuscan style. A lovely, sultry opening and an intense, deep red color. On the nose, one smells very ripe fruit again, mainly Amarene cherries and some Mediterranean herbs, combined with a floral note of violets. The entire wine is powerful but never heavy or overly alcoholic. The taste is full with delicious juiciness, dark black fruit, and a creamy finish. The alcohol is present, but not intrusive. Complex with excellent balance. And let's not forget: all this for such a low price. The Geografico Bosco del Grillo Governo is therefore a powerful, full-bodied, and juicy wine that appeals to a wide audience. Truly suitable for drinking on its own in the evening, but even better with roasted meat. Green Egg. A bit smoky. That’s perfectly fine. Delicious with a grilled Iberico Secreto.
Originally a cooperative, this is now in the hands of the local Piccini family. They still pursue the values of the founders: to be the benchmark of the region and to produce enjoyable wines. The company ‘Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico’ was established in 1961. It was a cooperative that has since been taken over by Piccini. At Geografico, every vineyard that joins is first thoroughly evaluated and assessed by a geologist and a vineyard specialist. They provide advice on the best grape varieties and rootstocks to use. Subsequently, they assist the owner in setting up the vineyard and are constantly present during vineyard management. Geografico’s expert winemaking team then produces the wine. This is also the case with the Geografico Bosco del Grillo Governo.
This philosophy of quality is combined with a focus on the terroir: the grapes for the higher-end wines consistently come from a single vineyard and are therefore named after the estate from which they originate. The wines are produced in a classic manner with minimal intervention in the vinification process. This results in genuine wines, wines with great drinkability, which are also competitively priced. Consequently, the price-quality ratio here is excellent. It doesn't get better than the Geografico Bosco del Grillo Governo!
