Elegance in a bottle. Spices, toast, vanilla, seductive, aged; Beautifully taut, powerful and broad, fine acidity, bitterness, juicy. A magnificent, complex sparkling wine. If you have first tried Graham Beck’s “regular” Cap Classique, then this is certainly a very refined step in the right direction. Made exclusively from white Chardonnay grapes. Produced in the same way as in Champagne (méthode traditionelle) and rested on its lees for a good 3 years, allowing the autolysis to do its work properly. Consequently, we can hardly resist the temptation of a chilled bottle of this. This is a complex Blanc de Blancs of only Chardonnay. Sparklers with style, finesse, and balance. And, it was the celebratory drink of choice for both Nelson Mandela's inauguration and Barack Obama's victory.
Serve this beautiful Blanc de Blancs with sushi, sashimi, oysters, and other seafood. Superb with lunch, as an aperitif, and on festive occasions! It brings life back to you!
The demand for good sparkling wines is growing worldwide! After initially producing still wines as well, Graham Beck took the step years ago to specialize exclusively in sparkling wines. And they do it very well! The special cuvées produced here, such as the Graham Beck Blanc de Blancs—not blends but vintage wines—receive a long aging on the lees, in the bottle, of about three years. No wonder this is a beautiful, complex sparkling wine with a special allure.
Chardonnay grapes from the vineyards in Robertson, Franschoek, and Stellenbosch. By using the entire bunch during pressing, different qualities can be separated, exactly as in Champagne. This forms the basis for the quality classification into Cuvée, Premier taille, and Deuxième taille. After the lees have settled, both grape varieties are fermented separately. Subsequently, they are blended with reserve wine, bottled, and the wine has 15 to 18 months of yeast contact before disgorgement takes place.
This is undoubtedly South Africa’s most awarded sparkling wine; the Blanc de Blancs has been recognized on various prominent national and international platforms, such as the International Wine and Spirits Competition (where it was voted the best bottle-fermented sparkling wine in the world).
