The La Belle Enseigne Malbec is a modern red wine from the Languedoc in the South of France. A full-bodied and velvety Malbec. Fruity, elegant, and beautifully balanced. The label suggests it is a robust, South American-style Malbec, but this is actually an elegant French young lady.
In the sunny south of France, the grapes benefit from a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers. At the same time, the nearby Pyrenees in the Limoux region provide cooling nights, allowing the grapes to retain their freshness. The result is an accessible, fruit-rich Malbec with a beautiful balance between ripeness and elegance.
Although the Malbec grape is traditionally known primarily from Cahors and Southwest France, more and more winemakers in the Languedoc are discovering the potential of this grape. Thanks to the sunny conditions, Malbec here develops a ripe, fruity character with soft tannins, making the wine delightfully smooth and easy to drink.
In the glass, this wine displays a deep ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of ripe red and black fruit, such as blackcurrants, blackberries, and cherries, immediately come to the fore. Additionally, you discover subtle notes of chocolate, coffee, and a hint of spices, which give the wine extra depth.
On the palate, the wine is juicy, round, and fruit-driven. Flavors of blackcurrant and blackberry are complemented by light notes of cocoa and roasted coffee beans. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, resulting in a smooth structure and a pleasantly long finish.
After mechanical harvesting, the grapes are first briefly cooled, followed by a cold maceration of approximately eight days at a low temperature (4–5°C). This process helps to extract color and aromas from the skins. Subsequently, the wine ferments for about ten days in stainless steel tanks at 25–30°C. During fermentation, the wine is regularly pumped over to obtain additional extraction and structure.
By carrying out the vinification entirely in stainless steel, the fruity character of the Malbec is optimally preserved.
This La Belle Enseigne Malbec is a versatile wine at the table. It pairs excellently with:
Serve the wine lightly chilled at around 16-18°C for the best taste experience.
The wines of La Belle Enseigne are produced in the Languedoc, one of the largest and most diverse wine regions of France. The producer selects grapes from various plots within the region and blends them into modern, fruity IGP wines. Thanks to modern winemaking techniques and careful grape selection, a style emerges that is accessible, fresh, and expressive.
This Malbec fits perfectly into that philosophy: a young, lively wine that is primarily meant to be enjoyed now.
In short: La Belle Enseigne Malbec is a delicious, accessible red wine for lovers of fruity French wines with a soft structure and great drinking pleasure.
