For a long time, the Ripasso technique, originating from the Veneto, was completely unknown. The farmers were poor at the time, and consequently, they worked very efficiently. Nothing was thrown away. The pressed grapes from the Amarone were not composted. It was precisely by adding them to the fermenting mass of the ordinary, light-bodied Valpolicella that they could give the latter a substantial boost. Le Crosare Ripasso from Cantine Lenotti also follows this special, ancient preparation method. The second fermentation takes place when the skins of the Amarone are added to the Valpolicella. As a result, the wine gains more color, flavor, and power. The Lenotti Le Crosare Ripasso has therefore united the best of these two worlds. It features a beautiful deep red color and aromas of ripe red fruit, chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. Its taste is full of spiciness, with a slightly sultry sweet start; it is full, velvety, and lingers in the mouth with a long finish.
Le Crosare is produced in limited quantities from selected grapes. A beautiful product that we also open at home ourselves when the temperatures drop a bit.
In the friendly northeast of Italy, on the shores of Lake Garda and close to the town of Bardolino, lies the wine estate of the Lenotti family. The area is also known as the pearl of Verona. The history of Cantine Lenotti begins in 1906. Even at the beginning of the last century, they had an excellent reputation for their local wines. The Lenotti Le Crosare Ripasso, alongside all other Lenotti wines, is produced with the utmost respect for nature and the working environment. After various investments and renovations, the Lenotti family has fully dedicated itself to the entire process from grape to a magnificent finished product. Perfectly suited for the discerning wine consumer who now also demands fully sustainable and organic wines.
The Lenotti family owns a substantial number of its own vineyards. The Lenotti Le Crosare Ripasso is also a blend of grapes from their best vineyards. Like all successful wineries that have been active for decades and intend to continue doing so for a long time, the production cycle has always been focused on the high quality of their wines, as well as the efficiency of all production processes, with the utmost respect for the environment and always taking into account the ecological sustainability of the processes. The “social” aspects for all those involved in the work processes are also taken into account. Quality, health, safety, and environmental protection are undoubtedly the objectives underlying every business decision of the Lenotti family.
