What a wonderfully refined, fresh, and pure wine this is! The aroma of the Monviert Martagona Sauvignon bursts out of your glass: a vibrant, fresh Sauvignon from Northern Italy. A Sauvignon Blanc like a Sauvignon Blanc Must taste. Dry and expressive, yet at the same time soft and elegant. Color straw yellow with greenish hues. The bouquet is intense yet elegant, with restrained notes of grapefruit peel, sage, marjoram, white peach, and ripe banana. On the palate, it is complete, full, and elegant with a great balance. It has a wonderful character, with all aromatic notes accompanied by acidic and fresh sensations, merging into a harmony of taste and pleasure. Simply a party! This wine is delicious with appetizers, (light) starters, salads, grilled vegetables, and asparagus. Actually, just with a lot of things. antipasti!
Sauvignon Blanc is a variety that was already recommended at the IV Viticulture Congress of Gorizia in 1891; quite a while ago now. Today, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the finest and most important realities of Friuli Venezia Giulia. On the hills, it reaches ideal levels of vegetative-productive balance and gives life to one of the best Friulian wines.
The Sauvignon grape thrives in the Friuli region, the area north of Venice. They have the ideal climate there for this French grape. The vineyards are 40 years old and are situated at an altitude of 150 meters in the sun. They were once forced to plant this grape here because the local grape varieties had been lost in the late 19th century during the great fungal disease that destroyed many vineyards. Fortunately, many local grape varieties have since returned, such as Friulano and Ribolla Gialla.
Monviert Martagona Sauvignon is a wine that has received numerous awards. In the well-known French wine guide, Gilbert & Gaillard, this wine scored no less than a gold medal. At the prestigious Concours Mondial du Sauvignon, this wine won a silver medal.
At the Montviert winery, they produce fantastic wines that often score highly internationally. In the Netherlands, they have actually been known for a very long time under the name Ronchi di San Guiseppe. In 2019, they changed their name to Montviert. Unfortunately, there were too many Ronchis! It is one of the wineries that we import ourselves.
