In the Netherlands, €80 million worth of sparkling wines are sold in total. Prosecco accounts for the largest share of this. So when you drink the Prosecco Biscardo Spumante DOC, you understand exactly why. Why pay more when you can get something as delicious as this for such a price? The Prosecco Biscardo Spumante has a straw-yellow color with fine bubbles. The nose is intense and aromatic with hints of apple and peach blossom. On the palate, it is smooth and velvety with a harmonious and aromatic finish.
The Prosecco, which comes from the northeastern part of the region, around the villages of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, is made from the grape variety of the same name or also called Glera named. There are also some less dry variants, most Proseccos are dry (Brut) and almost always sparkling to a greater extent (in the form of a Spumante) or to a lesser extent (in the form of a Frizzante).
Here, the grapes are pressed immediately after the harvest to limit contact with the skins as much as possible, after which fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks.
The wine is then cooled and returned to small pressurized stainless steel tanks, where the mousse is created in the wine through a second fermentation with new yeast and a sugar syrup. This is called the Charmat method where the carbon dioxide is therefore produced in the tanks instead of the bottle, like Champagne
Delicious as an aperitif, perfect with a starter, but also the ideal addition to a fish meal.
