A Chardonnay with blue blood…

The Rupert & Rothschild Baroness Nadine is indeed a wine of good lineage. Hailing from South Africa but made by French nobility. A radiant white-gold colour. Inviting flinty and mineral aromas. A delicate composition of lemongrass and lightly roasted macadamia nut. Meanwhile, the palate delivers flavours of zesty lemon, gooseberries, and raw almond flakes with a lingering finish. This wine pairs excellently with fried baby squid, roasted pomelo, lime yogurt and shaved fennel.

A classic Burgundy-style Chardonnay from South Africa

The grapes for the Rupert & Rothschild Baroness Nadine were hand-picked from mid-February to mid-March with an average yield of 8 tonnes per hectare. Furthermore, free-flowing juice from gentle pressing of whole bunches was used in the cellar for this wine. Eleven months of aging took place in primary fermentation vessels; 15% in concrete eggs, 20% in foudres, and the remainder in 300-liter French oak barrels, one-third of which were new barrels. The result is a classic Chardonnay in a French style, just like those made in Burgundy.

The wine history of the Rothschild family is rooted in France, where James de Rothschild acquired the prominent Bordeaux estate in 1868. Château Lafite bought. He then began a love affair with the vine that would be continued more than 100 years later by his great-grandson, Baron Edmond de Rothschild.

Motivated primarily by a dream to shape some of the finest wines around the world, Baron Edmond de Rothschild founded several wineries in Europe and then later in numerous corners of the world – a treasured collection that together form Edmond de Rothschild Heritage.
