You can expect something special from an Amarone! The best grapes from the vineyard and aged in wood. The Torre del Falasco Amarone della Valpolicella is a party in your glass! A beautiful red wine with great depth and complexity, and this example is very favorably priced compared to other Amarones. Decanter awarded this wine an impressive 90/100 points.
Cherries, Blackberries, Chocolate, Figs, and Licorice. On the palate, the blackberries resurface, while the finish reveals mainly licorice, chocolate, and oak. A beautiful Amarone with a lovely, highly concentrated nose. Exactly as you would expect. With ripe cherry and blackcurrant. Also some cocoa, black pepper, and bay leaf. The taste matches, offering a spicy (pepper) bouquet with blackcurrant and cherry present in a firm structure. Mild acidity and well-balanced tannins. The finish is longer than average. It is a beautiful, medium-bodied red wine. A ‘warm’ wine, delicious for autumn and winter. The price-quality ratio of this wine is very favorable.
Ripasso is sometimes called baby Amarone because of its deep ruby red color. Not only does the wine have an aroma of beautifully ripe fruit, but after a slightly sweet start, the taste also leans towards ripe fruit. Finally, there is a hint of gingerbread spices and licorice (due to oak aging). The finish is long with soft tannins.
Torre del Falasco is produced by the Cantina Valpantena wine cooperative. Valpantena is the name of the valley where the 270 winegrowers affiliated with this cooperative have their vineyards. The cooperative is an expert in the production of attractively priced wines from Valpolicella such as the Ripasso en Amarone.
Valpantena lies in the heart of the Veneto, near the city of Verona, one of the most important wine regions of Italy. Valpantena's area of operation extends across the well-known trio of appellations in the Verona area: Soave, Bardolino, and Valpolicella.
Amarone is a powerful and concentrated red wine with a rich flavor. It calls for dishes that are equally flavorful. The wine and the food must remain in beautiful balance. Amarone calls for food: fine meats (game, stews), spicy dishes (these can be specialties from around the world), or leisurely dining with a generously stocked cheese board. A top-notch evening is guaranteed!
Pairs well with: wild boar, pappardelle with rabbit, hare, leg of lamb stew, cheese board, Parmesan cheese
