Sultry red fruit, raisins and full of flavour
The Baglio Gibellina U Passimiento is a red wine in which you can taste the sultry southern Italian climate. Bursting with sultry red fruit. The scent has very concentrated dark red fruit and lots of cherry. Warm flavors of vanilla and oak are also present. A small residual sweetness from the dried grapes gives this wine a friendly effect. What a spectacular wine for a great price.
The wine comes from the island of Sicily and is made from two grapes: Nero d’Avola (70%) and Frappato (30%). These grapes are the most famous local red grape varieties on the island. Less common but very successful is the vinification process used. The Frappato is harvested relatively early, which means that a lot of freshness is preserved. The Nero d’Avola, on the other hand, is left to hang for a long time.
On the windy island, the grapes dry on the vine and are only picked when they are very ripe and contain a lot of sugar. That is often only at the end of autumn. First, some of the grapes are further dried according to the ‘Passimiento’ method. The grapes are then successively pressed, vinified and the wine matures for a number of months in oak. When the wines from both grape varieties are fully developed, only then are they blended into the Baglio Gibellina U Passimiento.

The dried grapes give the Baglio GibellinaU Passimiento a powerful and unique taste. A full-bodied wine with lots of dried fruit such as fig, raisin, currant and black cherry with soft tannins. Because the wine is very accessible, it also combines easily with many dishes. Pasta, pizza or just a piece of meat. This wine makes everything just that little bit tastier. This wine is highly recommended if you want to put something special on the table. And especially for this price!
