A gentle sparkle and a full, rich flavour with fresh acidity. A Blanc de Noirs just the way we like it. What a festive glass! And from Germany, no less! Germany is of course known for its Sekt wines, but contrary to what many believe, this is a crisp, dry sparkling wine. Hence the name: Extra Trocken. In fact, this Weingut Geil Blanc de Noir can even be compared to Champagne thanks to the long lees aging. We will certainly be serving this at our next get-together!
Poured into the glass, this is a beautiful golden-yellow wine with a gentle sparkle. Aromas of peach and flowers fill the nose. On the palate, this Sekt has a rich and full flavor. Beautifully rounded thanks to the long aging, yet with fresh acidity. The mousse remains soft and elegant on the palate as well. A festive aperitif that can be enjoyed with light starters.
This Blanc de Noir is, as the name suggests, a white wine made from ‘black’ grapes. Here is 100% Spätburgunder Pinot Noir is used. The vineyards are located in the German region of Rheinhessen, where this grape thrives. After the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed. The juice is separated from the skins almost immediately, resulting in a very delicate color. The Sekt is made using the Klassische Flaschengärung, or Traditional Method. This is the same method used in the production of Champagne, where the second fermentation takes place in the bottle. This Sekt ages for 15 months on its own yeast cells (sur-lie), which imparts a beautiful, rounded aroma and flavor.
Weingut Geil is known for its very high-quality wines from the German Rheinhessen. In addition to the extremely popular white wines made from Riesling and Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), they also produce an insane Spätburgunder and FrühburgunderThe Geil family's conviction is to produce affordable, high-quality wines with respect for nature and an individual approach for each grape variety. In any case, at Weingut Geil, they ensure that, through a combination of tradition and technical innovation, they can produce a superior product that is contemporary, exquisite, and authentic.
