Geweldig en heel fijn dat deze wijn altijd op voorrrad

This Frühburgunder is no late bloomer.

Weingut Geil distinguishes itself with this Frühburgunder. A grape whose origin is the subject of various stories. What is certain is that it is related to Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and ripens about two weeks earlier. However, there are also stories that it is a descendant of the Pinot Madeleine from the Ahr. Consequently, the Frühburgunder is not very well known among many wine lovers and connoisseurs. The Weingut Geil Frühburgunder itself, however, is more than interesting. A delicious, light wine to be drunk truly chilled. Beautiful, full-bodied, fruity with fine spices. Delicate dark chocolate with subtle toasted notes. A bright, light color and simply an insanely good glass of wine! Perfect to pair with rich summer salads or spicy food.

    Weingut Geil

The German family business Weingut Geil is located in the country's largest wine region, Rheinhessen. This area has been on the rise in recent years, primarily due to the high quality wine that can be produced here. Weingut Geil is a ‘rising star’ and produces wines of unprecedented class. Situated in a protected nature reserve lies the small town of Bechtheim, where the Geil family settled in the late 19th century to cultivate wine. Father Georg immediately named the house and vineyards after his son Johannes Geil, who in turn passed it on to his son, Johan(nes) Geil, a few years ago. The young Johannes (1977) is a true wine super-talent and was awarded the title ‘Discovery of 2004’ by Gault-Millau.

His secret? Low yields, working with respect for nature, an individual approach per grape variety, and an almost manic pursuit of quality. About 15 years ago, this estate was still considered good average; today—without any doubt—it belongs to the Rheinhessen elite. A true gem, and Weingut Geil scores everywhere. In Germany, there are the annual medals, both at the regional level (Kammerpreismünze) and at the national level (DLG) and Gault Millau. The Rieslings have been described as "Urknall" wines; full of explosive fruit and minerality. Rarely has a wine estate reached the top so quickly.

Rheinhessen is primarily known for the production of white wines, and this is no different at Weingut Geil. But while many still believe that Riesling is the only grape grown in this region, at Weingut Geil we see a great diversity of fantastic grapes and wines. Naturally, they have a beautiful dry Riesling, but they also produce, for example, an incredible Weissburgunder. All Geil wines offer excellent value for money with a relatively low alcohol content.
