The grapes grow on old vines situated at an altitude of approximately 650 meters above sea level. Following the manual harvest, the grapes are carefully selected. The grapes undergo cold maceration for 12 hours and are then gently pressed. A short aging period on its own lees makes the wine rounder and gives it more body.

The Escudera family has been making wine for generations in La Seca, a small town in the heart of Rueda. A few years ago, brothers Pablo and Diego and sister Maria took over the reins from their parents. Together, they ensure that the bar is set high when producing their quality wines. The sun shines brightly here, but it cools down considerably at night, allowing the grapes to retain their fresh, lively acidity. The average age of the vines is between 40 and 50 years. This ensures a very low yield from healthy, perfectly ripe vines. The clay soil is covered with large pebbles, which radiate the sun's heat to the grapes at night, allowing them to continue ripening through their roots. Bodegas Don Diego has it all: Traditional viticulture combined with modern vinification methods. Most wines ferment and are aged in stainless steel tanks, allowing the fresh, aromatic character of the Bodegas Don Diego Anarian Verdejo to come into its own even better.
