Enjoy the grandeur of a Gran Reserva

A Rioja Gran Reserva from single-estate bodega Barón de Ley. Only the best Tempranillo grapes go into this bottle. But not before the wine ages in wooden barrels for 24 months. And you can taste it!!

This Barón de Ley Rioja Gran Reserva is pure richness. A scarlet red wine with a wide array of ripe red and dark fruit and well-integrated oak, spices, leather, tobacco, and vanilla. The taste is full and round, yet fresh and lively, with a long finish featuring dried fruit and toast. Great aromatic intensity on the nose, with ripe fruit well integrated with toasted oak, clove, burnt coffee, and balsamic barrel aromas, along with pipe tobacco. On the palate, the initial taste is round and balanced, with silky tannins yet fresh and lively. The finish of the Barón de Ley Gran Reserva Rioja is long and persistent, reminiscent of toasted wood and dried fruit. A wine to savor gently and sink into.

    Classic wine, classic dishes?

This wine also calls for grand classic dishes such as Beef Wellington, Boeuf Stroganoff, Roast Leg of Lamb, or roast beef. But secretly, after packing a few more cases, we also find it delicious with a pulled pork sandwich. Ha!

This Rioja was made according to the legislation within the Gran Reserva classification DOca Rioja aged for 24 months in 50% American and 50% French oak barrels, and subsequently aged in the bottle for another 3 years. Primarily made from Tempranillo grapes grown in our Cenicero vineyards, where the orientation of the slopes, the Atlantic climate, and the low yields provide us with the perfect grapes for this wine style.

    Single Estate Bodega

Bodega Barón de Ley was founded by three successful Rioja producers. In 1985, they decided to establish a single-estate bodega together: a winery where the grapes come exclusively from their own vineyards and are not sourced from other farmers. At the time, this was unique in Rioja, where many depend on local grape growers to produce wine. Baron de Ley combines traditional with modern techniques. They make wines that, due to their aging in American oak, are unmistakably Spanish in character. At the same time, they are bursting with fruit. That is perhaps the secret to their great success.
