    Like morning dew on the freshly mown grass…

    This Bellori Rueda Verdejo Joven is so incredibly spring! Still fresh, crisp nights, followed by radiant sunshine. The scent of white blossoms, freshly cut grass, citrus, and apples. The taste is lively and bright with just a hint of grapefruit seed bitterness, typical of the Verdejo grape. Straight from the press, super vibrant and crystal clear. Joven, so no oak aging here and everything fermented in stainless steel. This is to preserve the total freshness and its primary aromas. A refreshing aperitif and perfect with tapas, goat cheese, salads with grilled vegetables, green asparagus or a small fish, then a grilled prawn!

    Rueda is the historic white wine region in Spain. In the past, the Palomino grape took center stage here, as sherry-like wine was produced. In the 1970s, Verdejo took the reins through initiative. This wine is fresh off the press, super vibrant, and crystal clear. Sandy soils, pebbles, and heterogeneous vineyards that require a different approach to cultivation; a magnificent grape like Verdejo, which they have enjoyed for hundreds of years; extreme temperatures with very harsh winters and dry summers that influence the ripening process of the grapes;

    A group of friends and lovers of fine wines met in 2008 at a beautiful wine estate in the Spanish village of Ventosa de la Cuesta. This 34-hectare vineyard served as the inspiration for this group of friends to decide, a few years later, to embark on a viticulture project called ‘Bellorí Vinos’. Their philosophy is to produce wines with a distinct, typical character: expressive and complex, yet at the same time subtle and authentic.

    Verdejo grape

    Verdejo is derived from ‘verde’ (meaning green in Spanish) and refers to the bright green color of the grape. It is one of the best Spanish white grape varieties, originally from North Africa, but has also been cultivated in Spain since the 11th century. It is often just a small grape with a rough skin that offers protection against the extreme climate of this region. Typical of Verdejo is that it produces very aromatic, fresh, and soft wines. Actually, not at all what we would expect from Spain. Moreover, the grape is also excellently suited for aging in wood. These wines then change in style, becoming fuller with notes of honey and nuts, among others. The Bellori Rueda Verdejo Joven, however, does not care for this. Here, it opts for fresh notes instead. The fruity aromas are reminiscent of tropical fruit, peach, ripe apple, flowers, and citrus. Also characteristic is a slight bitterness, which is frequently noticeable. The grapes are usually harvested at night to minimize the risk of premature oxidation during the high daytime temperatures.
