Wow! What an exceptionally beautiful Morgon. Earthy notes, violets, blackberry, cherry on the nose. On the palate, strawberry and raspberry emerge, supported by some spiciness from liquorice and licorice. The Château Grange Cochard Morgon ‘Les Charmes’ is an energetic red wine with impressive character and depth. This beautiful Beaujolais, which is officially part of the Burgundy, has clear notes of juicy red fruit and ripe black cherries. The Gamay Noir grapes on the terroir of Morgon provide freshness but also complexity, which is typical of this place. The wine has a beautiful balance between fruit, lively acidity, and refined tannins. It is a wine that can be drunk immediately or aged for several years for added complexity.
In the glass, Château Grange Cochard Morgon ‘Les Charmes’ displays aromas of ripe fruit and subtle spicy nuances. The taste is lively with a pleasant hint of earthiness and a silky yet powerful structure. This refined wine pairs excellently with, for example, French charcuterie and light meat dishes. It also forms a harmonious combination with mushroom risotto or pasta with a rich tomato sauce. Furthermore, the soft tannins and fresh character make it highly suitable for drinking by the glass. Due to its versatility, this wine is perfect for any wine lover who appreciates elegant, characterful red wines.
Château Grange Cochard is situated in the heart of the Morgon, one of the most respected crus of Beaujolais. The vineyards cover a total of 9.5 hectares, including a plot in the famous Côtes de Py. The soil consists of a mixture of sand and loam, on which vines averaging 50 years old have their roots deep in the ground. The Château Grange Cochard Morgon ‘Les Charmes’ is crafted with utmost precision using a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The hand-harvested grapes are still selected on a vibrating sorting table. Half of the grapes undergo carbonic maceration, resulting in abundant fruit expression and softer tannins. After fermentation, which lasts 15 to 20 days, the wine ages for several months in concrete tanks for additional refinement.
Het wijnhuis werkt momenteel aan de omschakeling en een cetirficaat voor biologische wijnbouw. Momenteel wordt er al organic worked. The grapes are processed with minimal intervention, and temperature-controlled vinification ensures optimal extraction of aromas. Pressing is carried out with extreme care to avoid harsh tannins. This attention to detail and respect for nature results in a wine with excellent aging potential of at least ten years. Morgon wines are known for their complexity and powerful fruit structure, qualities that are beautifully expressed in this wine.
