Melon, peach, honey, citrus, and white blossom. All supported by a delicious, light fizz. The Marco Porello Moscato d’Asti is a delightful sparkling wine with a touch of sweetness and delicate bubbles. This charming wine from the heart of the Langhe, Piedmont in Northern Italy has expressive aromas of white grapes, juicy nectarines, and delicate flowers. The Muscat-grapes provide a characteristic aromatic profile that is typical of this grape and the traditional Italian wine style. With its light alcohol content of 5%, this sparkling wine is perfect as an aperitif or with sweet treats such as ice cream desserts or fruit crumbles.
In the glass, the Marco Porello Moscato d’Asti has a lemon-yellow color with subtle green reflections. The taste has a perfect balance between natural sweetness and refreshing acidity. Tropical fruit dominates the palate, supported by the soft mousse that makes it so exciting. This delightful sparkling wine is a top accompaniment to desserts with fresh fruit. It shines especially with fresh strawberries and comes into its own beautifully with apricot or mango tart. The natural sweetness from 130-140 grams of residual sugar per liter is elegantly supported by the lively structure and the acidity.
Marco Porello’s vineyards are scattered across the steep slopes surrounding picturesque Calosso in Piedmont. The soil, rich in clay and limestone, gives the wines their characteristic minerality. All grapes are carefully hand-picked to ensure the highest quality. Vinification is carried out with great precision, beginning with a cold maceration of the skins for four to five days at 10 degrees. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation lasts fourteen days at a controlled temperature of 15 degrees. Alcoholic fermentation is stopped prematurely before all the sugars have been converted into alcohol. This results in a lower alcohol percentage and a natural sugar content. Furthermore, the bubbles released during this process are beautifully preserved, resulting in a lightly sparkling wine. This process is even called the ‘Asti Method’!
The winery Marco Porello is known for its wide range of wines that reflect the richness of Northern Italy and its high-quality wines. From elegant Nebbiolo rosé to refined Arneis, each type of grape receives the same dedicated attention. This Moscato d'Asti shows the house's expertise in making light-footed, aromatic wines. It is a perfect expression of what the region has to offer, made with respect for tradition and an eye for quality. Serve the wine at 8-10 degrees Celsius to maximize its refreshing character.
