Pio Cesare: five generations of craftsmanship

Since 1881 it has belonged Pio Cesare among the icons of Piedmont. From the historic cellars in Alba – built on Roman foundations – the family has been continuing the tradition for five generations. Today, the estate owns 45 hectares in the best vineyards of Barolo and Barbaresco.

For the Barbera d’Alba, grapes are harvested in October and vinified with careful skin maceration of 20–25 days. This is followed by 12 months of aging in French oak, with a subtle use of wood that allows the grape to take center stage.

    Vintage character

The current vintage shines with a ruby red color and vibrant fruit expression. Critics praise the wine for its freshness, balance, and versatility: already delightful to drink, but also with aging potential. A textbook example of Barbera, and a worthy representative of the Pio Cesare name.
