This Talò Malvasia Nera from winemakers Cantine San Marzano is deep ruby red in color. With red fruit and spices, this wine has an intense and complex aromatic combination. The Malvasia Nera grapes are harvested in the second half of September. After skin maceration and fermentation, the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. This results in a velvety wine on the palate with a long finish and full body without sacrificing elegance.
San Marzano is located in the popular wine region of Puglia. The Malvasia Nera grapes have a lot to endure, as extreme weather conditions occur here. Think of heat, drought, even very dangerous spring frosts, and the Sirocco wind. Nevertheless, these experienced winemakers ensure that even grapes from the oldest vineyards yield full-bodied and elegant wines.
The wines are often served with roasted meats such as goat and suckling pig. Also delicious with good, aged, intense cheeses like Pecorino and Parmesan.
In 1962, 19 wine producers from San Marzano, whose families had cultivated the land for generations, joined forces to establish “Cantina San Marzano”. Over the years, this cooperative has grown significantly and is today known for its advanced methods and the elegance of its wines.
