     Lagrein is truly our wine!

Lagrein? What kind of wine? Lagrein? Never heard of it? The Tramin Lagrein Alto Adige has an intensely dark color and bursts with fruit! Blueberries, dark Amarene cherries, violets, nutmeg, cinnamon, a leather jacket, freshly roasted coffee beans, and often even bitter cocoa. It is not too heavy, not too tannic, yet it can be aged for several years. The Lagrein does not ripen very easily, which is why it is mostly grown in the valley, on sandy alluvial soil. In full sun so that it can ripen properly.

The Lagrein is an indigenous blue grape from the hills of Alto Adige that offers a delightful surprise. Here, where the nationality is Italian, the atmosphere is distinctly Tyrolean. You eat Parmigiano, ham, and speck here. Just like in many other European wine regions, you take the "Weinstrasse" here. It starts at Vilpian and winds its way past the vineyards and small villages where you can go for all kinds of tastings and tours. The famous wineries are located on the hills of Sankt Magdalena. As are the excellent ones. Kellerei Tramin the Tramin Lagrein Alto Adige from our assortment.

Excellent with Italian charcuterie, hard cheeses, and also spectacular with roast beef from the oven.

    Kellerei Tramin

In 1971, Cantina Tramin merged with the historic Cantina Sociale di Egna, founded in 1893. A union that unites the heritage of traditions and vineyards in a single cooperative. In the 1990s, the shift from quantity to quality was consolidated. They are now purely focused on the maximum expression of their oenological qualities and their vineyards. Production is entirely geared towards excellence.

Moreover, we have nothing to add to the following quote by Monica Larner, Italy specialist at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “Cantina Tramin is establishing itself as a major global leader. Their Epokale Alto Adige 2009 is a wine characterized by genius and inspiration. It is the first Italian wine outside Tuscany and Piedmont to receive 100 Parker points from Wine Advocate.”
